The House Dress Was Made for Summer in Quarantine
The house dress used to be popular with the baby boomers of the south. A stylish, feminine, and soft dress that could be worn while fixing up around the house, greeting the milk man, or even running to the supermarket in a pinch. I’m sure many of us have seen our grandma’s wear a house dress from time to time, and I’m even more sure we’d never thought we’d want to raid their closet to see more of them. But alas, regardless of how you feel about it—the house dress is back! Perhaps it’s because I’m a southern woman at heart, but I for one couldn’t be happier to see this trend circle back around. And for a time like quarantine no less, forget about it! If you ask me, we all need a few pretty house dresses. Whether it’s to lounge in while reading a book on the porch, or trying to master that new recipe in the kitchen. The house dress truly is a comfortable and versatile piece, that every woman—regardless of age or proximity to the south, should have in her closet. Here’s a few of our favorites.
